SUMMARY:Exploring BIPOC Perinatal Mental Health: Trauma-Informed Practices
DESCRIPTION:Facilitated by Dr. Pavna Sodhi\, EdD\, RP and Kameela Osman\, MSW\, RSW\, PMH-C \nThis 1.5-hour workshop explores the complex and often overlooked intersections of culture\, trauma\, and perinatal mental health in BIPOC communities. Together\, we will examine how cultural expectations\, fertility pressures\, and intergenerational trauma shape the emotional and mental well-being of BIPOC women throughout the perinatal period\, from preconception through postpartum. \n \nThrough a trauma-informed lens\, Dr. Pavna Sodhi and Kameela Osman will guide a conversation that validates lived experiences while offering practical tools and insights. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of how inherited narratives\, systemic pressures\, and embodied stress responses impact mental health\, and how we can begin to shift these patterns toward healing. \nWhether you are navigating this journey personally or working in the perinatal or mental health field\, this workshop offers a compassionate and educational space to reflect\, learn\, and grow. \nWho this workshop is for: \n\nCommunity members interested in the topic\nPerinatal and mental health professionals\nAnyone supporting BIPOC individuals through fertility\, pregnancy\, or postpartum\n\nJoin us as we center the voices and experiences of BIPOC women and explore ways to foster healing and culturally responsive care. \nREGISTER HERE
