Meet Alana Sookoor - Social Worker & Psychotherapist
Supporting adolescents (16+), adults, and parents in understanding emotions, navigating life’s challenges, and building practical strategies for everyday life.
Every Stage of Life Brings New Challenges
Integrating her past experience as a Child and Youth Worker with her lens as a Social Worker & Psychotherapist, Alana understands that no two people arrive in therapy with the same experiences, strengths, or story. She believes meaningful therapy begins by meeting people where they are, building on their strengths, and working collaboratively toward the goals that matter most to them.
Whether you’re navigating adolescence, adulthood, or parenthood, therapy offers an opportunity to better understand yourself, strengthen your emotional well-being, and develop practical strategies that support your everyday life.

Could Therapy Help?
There isn’t a perfect time to begin therapy. Some people reach out during one of the most difficult seasons of their lives, while others are looking for support as they navigate change, better understand themselves, or develop healthier ways of coping.
Whether you’re an adolescent (16+) learning to navigate new challenges, an adult feeling overwhelmed by life’s demands, or a parent balancing the needs of your family while caring for your own well-being, therapy can provide an opportunity to pause, reflect, and move forward with greater confidence and clarity.
You may benefit from therapy if you are:
-
-
- Feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or emotionally exhausted.
- Finding it difficult to manage or express your emotions.
- Struggling with self-esteem or self-confidence.
- Navigating a significant life transition.
- Noticing patterns in your relationships that you’d like to better understand.
- Looking for practical strategies to cope with everyday challenges.
- Wanting a space to better understand yourself and grow.
-
Seeking support isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about giving yourself the opportunity to explore what you need and where you’d like to go next.
What Guides Alana’s Practice
Alana believes meaningful therapy begins by meeting people where they are. Rather than expecting change to happen all at once, she works collaboratively with clients to better understand their experiences, recognize their strengths, and take meaningful steps toward the goals that matter most to them.
Whether you’re navigating anxiety, emotional regulation, life transitions, or the challenges that come with adolescence, adulthood, or parenthood, therapy is tailored to your unique experiences, strengths, and needs.
Meeting You Where You Are
There is no “right” place to begin therapy. Alana believes support should reflect your unique experiences, goals, and readiness for change.
Building on Strengths
Therapy isn’t only about understanding challenges. It’s also about recognizing the strengths, resilience, and abilities you already have while developing new ways to navigate life’s difficulties.
Practical, Collaborative Care
Together, you’ll explore what matters most to you while developing practical strategies that support meaningful growth in your everyday life.
FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)
How do I know if Alana is the right therapist for me?

What ages does Alana work with?
Alana provides individual psychotherapy for adolescents (16+) and adults. She also supports parents through therapy and offers separate parent consultations for potty training support.
What can I expect during my first session?
Your first session is initial assessment, it’s an opportunity to get to know one another. From this, Alana will be able to consider clinical needs to support you. Together, you’ll discuss what’s bringing you to therapy, explore your goals, and begin developing an approach that reflects your unique needs and experiences. There is no expectation to have everything figured out before you begin.
Do I need to know exactly what I want to work on?
