Women’s Mental Health Therapy in Bowmanville & Across Ontario
Space for what you’re experiencing, what’s changing, and what you need.
You might be feeling overwhelmed, disconnected from yourself, or frustrated that the ways you’ve always coped aren’t helping as much anymore. Perhaps you’re navigating changes in sleep, desire, attention or relationships, while still trying to keep up with everything life asks of you.
You don’t need to have it all figured out before reaching out.
At Elite Counselling & Consulting, we offer women’s mental health therapy for concerns including perimenopause and menopause, sex and intimacy, ADHD-related challenges, burnout, sleep difficulties and life transitions. In-person sessions are available in Bowmanville, with virtual therapy across Ontario.
Support That Considers Your Whole Experience
Your mental health exists within the context of your life. Relationships, health, culture, identity, caregiving, work and expectations can all shape what you’re carrying.
Therapy offers space to explore those experiences without assuming that every woman’s needs, relationships or life path look the same. Together, we can work toward understanding what’s happening, responding to yourself with greater compassion, and making changes that reflect your needs and values.
What We Can Support You With
Perimenopause and Menopause
You may be noticing changes in how you feel, think, sleep or connect with others. It can be unsettling when familiar coping strategies feel less effective, particularly when you’re also managing work, relationships, parenting or caregiving.
Therapy can support you in exploring:
- Emotional changes, anxiety, irritability and self-criticism.
- The impact of concentration or memory concerns on confidence.
- Changes in identity, body image and expectations of yourself.
- Sleep difficulties and their impact on daily life.
- Changes in sex, intimacy and relationships.
- Communicating your needs and seeking support.
Kameela has completed professional education in menopause mental health through BRIA. Her approach considers both the transition itself and the wider circumstances of your life.
Psychotherapy can complement medical care. You’re welcome to seek emotional support while also exploring physical symptoms and treatment options with your healthcare provider.
Sex Therapy, Sexual Wellness and Intimacy
Sex and intimacy can be difficult to talk about, even with someone you trust. You may be experiencing changes in desire, feeling disconnected from pleasure, or wondering how to communicate what feels comfortable and meaningful to you.
Kameela offers sex therapy support for women and couples, drawing on additional professional training in sexuality and sex therapy.
Areas we can explore include:
- Changes in sexual desire or differences in desire between partners.
- Pleasure, sensuality and your relationship with your body.
- The emotional and relational impact of sexual pain.
- Shame, expectations, and cultural or personal messages about sexuality.
- Communication, boundaries, consent and emotional connection.
- Intimacy through pregnancy, postpartum, perimenopause and menopause.
Your goals guide the work. Therapy provides a respectful space to explore your experience without pressure to want sex more often or meet someone else’s expectations.
When physical discomfort or pain is part of your experience, therapy can work alongside appropriate medical or pelvic health care.
ADHD-Related Challenges
Keeping track of responsibilities, getting started on tasks, managing emotions or finding time to recover can feel exhausting. You may also be carrying years of self-criticism about why certain things seem harder than you think they “should” be.
Kameela draws on professional training in ADHD, including working with women with ADHD, to support concerns such as:
- Overwhelm, planning and task initiation.
- Emotional regulation and frustration.
- Perfectionism, self-doubt and shame.
- Managing competing demands at home and work.
- Communicating needs within relationships.
- Developing practical strategies that suit your circumstances.
You don’t need a formal diagnosis to seek support for these concerns. These experiences can have different explanations, and therapy offers space to explore your needs. This service focuses on psychotherapy and practical support rather than formal ADHD assessment.
Burnout, Mental Load and Boundaries
You might be the person who remembers, organizes, anticipates and holds things together. Over time, that can leave little room for your own needs, interests or rest.
Therapy can help you explore:
- Emotional exhaustion and feeling stretched too thin.
- The invisible work of planning and caregiving.
- Guilt around rest, asking for help or saying no.
- People-pleasing and expectations of yourself.
- Boundaries at home, at work and within family relationships.
- Reconnecting with interests, values and a sense of choice.
We can consider both the ways you cope and the demands you’re facing, including where support, responsibilities or expectations may need to change.
Sleep Difficulties and Insomnia
When sleep becomes difficult, you may find yourself worrying about the night ahead or struggling to cope with the day that follows.
Kameela has completed training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) and Brief Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (BBT-I). She draws on this training to provide individualized support with thoughts, habits and patterns that may be contributing to sleep difficulties.
Together, we can explore your sleep concerns, daily routines and goals, and consider practical changes that fit your life. Where appropriate, we may also discuss seeking medical assessment for concerns that need additional attention.
Life Transitions, Identity and Your Sense of Self
Sometimes the concern is difficult to name. You may be questioning a role you’ve held for years, adjusting to a relationship change, or realizing that your needs have shifted.
Therapy can offer space to explore grief, confidence, changing priorities and the parts of yourself you’d like to reconnect with. You don’t need to be a parent, partner or caregiver to deserve that space.
Pregnancy, Postpartum and Parenting Support
Fertility experiences, pregnancy, loss, postpartum adjustment and parenting can also shape women’s mental health.
We offer dedicated perinatal and parent support services, with space to explore emotional wellness, identity, relationships and the demands of family life.

Frequently Asked Questions About Women’s Mental Health Therapy
Do I need to know what’s causing my concerns before booking?
No. You can come to therapy knowing only that something feels difficult or different. We’ll take time to understand what you’re experiencing, what matters to you and the support you’re looking for.
Can I seek therapy if I’m unsure whether I’m in perimenopause?
Yes. You can seek support for emotional, sleep or relationship concerns whether or not you’ve identified a cause. Therapy can help you work through your experience, while a medical provider can assess physical symptoms and discuss whether perimenopause or another health concern may be involved.
Can I get support for sleep without attending a group?
Yes. Sleep concerns can be addressed in individual therapy with Kameela, drawing on her training in CBT-I (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia) and BBT-I (Brief Behavioral Treatment for Insomnia). Therapy related to sleep can be a standalone or integrated with other presenting issues such as perimenopause or anxiety.
Is women’s mental health therapy available online?
Yes. Kameela and Alana offer virtual therapy to clients across Ontario. Kameela also offers in-person appointments at our Bowmanville office.
Is therapy covered by insurance?
Many extended health plans cover psychotherapy provided by a Registered Social Worker. Coverage varies, so please check your plan’s requirements. We do not provide direct billing. Receipts are provided for reimbursement.
