Perinatal Mental Health Therapy in Bowmanville & Across Ontario
Supporting You Through Every Stage of the Perinatal Journey
From trying to conceive to pregnancy, pregnancy loss, postpartum, and early parenthood, the perinatal journey is rarely as straightforward as we expect. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, grief, overwhelm, identity changes, or simply don’t feel like yourself, you don’t have to navigate it alone.
Perinatal mental health therapy offers a supportive space to process your experiences, better understand your emotional well-being, and develop practical tools to help you move forward with greater confidence and self-compassion.

What is Couples & Marriage Therapy?
Perinatal therapy is mental health support for individuals navigating the emotional, psychological, and relational changes that can occur throughout the perinatal journey. This includes trying to conceive, fertility challenges, pregnancy, pregnancy loss, postpartum, and the transition to parenthood.
Every perinatal experience is unique. While some people seek therapy to process a specific challenge, others come because they don’t feel like themselves, are feeling overwhelmed, or simply want additional support during a significant life transition. Therapy provides a compassionate, non-judgmental space to better understand your experiences, strengthen your emotional well-being, and develop practical strategies that support you throughout this chapter of life.

Frequently Asked Questions About Perinatal Therapy
Do you support people experiencing fertility challenges?
Yes. Therapy can support the emotional impact of fertility struggles, infertility, fertility treatments, recurrent pregnancy loss, uncertainty, and the many challenges that can arise while trying to grow your family.
Can therapy help after pregnancy or infant loss?
Yes. Pregnancy and infant loss can bring profound grief, trauma, and complex emotions. Therapy offers a compassionate space to process your experience, honour your loss, and move forward at your own pace. There is no “right” way to grieve, and you don’t have to go through it alone.
Is it normal to struggle during pregnancy or after having a baby?
Yes. Pregnancy and the transition to parenthood can bring significant emotional, physical, and relational changes. While it’s normal to experience a range of emotions, you don’t have to wait until things feel overwhelming to seek support. Therapy can help you navigate these changes at any stage of the perinatal period.
Do I need to have postpartum depression or anxiety to benefit from therapy?
No. Perinatal therapy isn’t only for people experiencing a diagnosed Perinatal Mood or Anxiety Disorder (PMAD). Many individuals seek support while trying to conceive, during pregnancy, after pregnancy or infant loss, or as they adjust to parenthood, changing relationships, identity shifts, or the many emotional challenges that can arise during this time.
Can my partner attend sessions?
Absolutely. While individual therapy is often the primary focus, there may be times when inviting your partner into a session is clinically beneficial. If the primary goal becomes supporting your relationship together, couples therapy may be recommended. Individual therapy is also available for non-birthing partners through-out the perinatal journey.
What if I don't feel connected to my baby?
You’re not alone. Difficulty bonding can happen for many reasons and does not mean you’re a bad parent. Therapy provides a supportive, non-judgmental space to explore what you’re experiencing, strengthen your emotional well-being, and foster connection with yourself and your baby.
Do you offer virtual perinatal therapy?
Yes. In-person perinatal therapy is available in Bowmanville, serving individuals and families throughout Clarington and Durham Region, with secure virtual therapy available across Ontario
