FAQ- Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about group and format

What is the Mom Wellness Group?

The Mom Wellness Group is a free virtual peer support group for moms in Ontario, facilitated by registered social worker, Kameela Osman, who is also perinatal mental health certified. Each monthly session explores a different topic related to maternal mental health, emotional wellness, relationships, or parenting. The group offers a supportive space to learn, connect with other moms, and reflect on the challenges of motherhood. It’s educational and supportive in nature and is not group psychotherapy.

Who is this group for?

The Mom Wellness Group is open to moms in Ontario at any stage of motherhood. Whether you are pregnant, newly postpartum, parenting young children, raising teenagers, or simply looking for connection and support, you are welcome to join. You do not need to be experiencing a mental health concern to participate.

Is the group free?

Yes. The Mom Wellness Group is a free virtual support group for moms in Ontario. There is no cost to attend, but advance registration is required so you can receive the Zoom link and important group information before each session. The group is offered as part of Elite Counselling & Consulting Services’ commitment to making maternal mental health support more accessible.

Do I have to share during the group?

Sharing is always optional. Some participants enjoy asking questions and contributing to the discussion, while others prefer to listen and reflect. You’re welcome to participate in whatever way feels most comfortable for you.

Is the Mom Wellness Group confidential?

We are committed to creating a respectful and supportive environment. Everyone is asked to keep what is shared within the group private. However, because this is a virtual peer support group, confidentiality cannot be guaranteed, and participants are encouraged to join from a private space whenever possible. As the facilitator is a registered social worker, she is also guided by professional limits of confidentiality and cannot keep certain disclosures confidential, including situations involving risk of harm to yourself or others, or concerns about the safety of a child.

What if I need more support than the group can provide?

The Mom Wellness Group is designed to provide education, encouragement, and peer connection. If you are experiencing significant emotional distress or are looking for personalized mental health treatment, individual therapy may be a better fit. Our team can help you explore psychotherapy options that meet your needs.
